How I built this app with AI
A journey of leveraging artificial intelligence to solve a simple human problem: forgetting birthdays.
It started with a spreadsheet.
Hi, I'm Gabriel. I have zero coding background. But like many of you, I had a problem: I wanted to be the person who remembered every birthday, but life kept getting in the way. For years, I relied on a clunky Google Sheet with automated emails. It worked, but it lacked heart.
Then Theo arrived.
When my son Theo was born, the complexity of our family celebrations multiplied. Relatives asking for gift ideas, managing duplicates, birthdays of others... my spreadsheet couldn't keep up. I needed something better. Something that felt like a celebration, not a chore.
Building with AI.
I didn't know how to code, but I knew what I wanted. I turned to AI. Line by line, prompt by prompt, BDayz came to life. It wasn't just about building an app; it was about empowering myself to solve a real problem. Every featureāfrom Smart Wishlists to Private Circlesāwas built to solve a specific pain point I faced as a father and a friend.
āI wanted to build an app that allowed me to easily manage my birthday entries.ā

A tool for connection.
Today, BDayz is more than just a list of dates. It helps me keep track of all birthdays, helps me create birthday messages directly in the app, and share dates and wishlists private circles with friends and family. It's the tool I wish I had ten years ago.
